RMUTP English Camp 2012

During the summer month of May, International Affairs Division of RMUTP, held an English Camp at the Sigma Hotel in Pattaya for the students of RMUTP.  It was provided with several camp leaders from Lander University, a Liberal Arts University located in the United States.   This five day camp consisted of daily class room sessions, educational activities and games, and free time and fun for students and camp leaders.

Every day started with a wonderful buffet style breakfast provided by the Sigma Hotel.  Students would arrive at the central meeting room after breakfast for a day’s worth of conversational style lecture which focused on improving the speaking, listening, and writing skills of the students.  Camp leaders incorporated many educational games and activities into each classroom session.  It was very apparent that the students and camp leaders all enjoyed the informal format of the classroom sessions.

Following the classroom sessions, the students and camp leaders were treated to the third delicious meal of the day.    After everyone was plenty satisfied, the evening activities commenced.  These included relaxation in the hotel pool and beach, karaoke in the adjoined restaurant, and friendly beach football matches.   By 10:00 p.m. each evening the students returned to their rooms to relax and recuperate for the next exciting day of camp.

On one particular evening the students and camp leaders decided to put forth some of their extra energy in an effort to better the surrounding area of our stay.  Everyone came together and participated in a ‘beach clean-up.’   Approximately 200 yards of the beach, from road to water were cleaned of any washed up debris, trash, or unnatural objects that took away from the beach’s natural beauty.  It was amazing to see all of the students so willing to spend their free time helping better their environment.

On the evening of the last day everyone came together for a great dinner and discussion of the weeks past events.  The students were sent off with an action packed pool party that included karaoke, games, and even a few dance moves.  It was a bitter sweet end as all of the students and camp leaders had become close friends.  As everyone returned home it was apparent the days were already being counted until the beginning of the next camp.
